What Is the EWSETA Learnership Programme?

EWSETA stands for the Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority. This learnership programme is part of a national effort to address critical skills shortages in three essential sectors:

  • Energy – from electricity supply to renewable power solutions
  • Water – including water purification, treatment, and management
  • Environment – such as waste management and environmental protection

Through structured learning that combines classroom-based training and practical on-the-job experience, EWSETA equips learners with market-ready skills aligned with real industry needs.

Who Should Apply?

This Programme Welcomes a Wide Range of Applicants

Opportunities exist for dynamic and ambitious matriculants with the potential and interest to study water related courses and work in the Water Industry.

Do you have what it takes to study, learn and work at the same time?
Are you looking to further your studies but lack sufficient matric points to gain access at tertiary level?
Did you study Mathematics and Physics at matric level?
Then you qualify to apply for the Learnership Programme opportunity at uMngeni-uThukela Water.

This opportunity is a Learnership Programme for a National Certificate in Water and Waste Water Treatment NQF level 2 for a duration of
one-year.

Requirements

  • Proof of physical home address: a letter from the Traditional Authority Office for those residing from the villages and note that this will be confirmed with Traditional Authority Office (chancers will be disqualified)
  • Certified Matric Mid-Term School report (learners must have completed their Matric within the same district of residence)
  • Certified Copy of Valid South African ID document (student)
  • Matric certificate with Mathematics and Physics
  • Motivation letter from the student

Returnable documents must include the following:

  • Detailed CV
  • Grade 12 or Matric certificate
  • SA Identity document
  • A short motivation as to why the applicant should be selected
  • Proof of residence
  • Mid Term school report

Minimum Requirements – Applicants must:

  • Be unemployed
  • Have studied Mathematics and Science at Matric level
  • Be youth up to the age of 35
  • Must reside in deep rural of areas of uMkhanyakude District and uMzinto District Municipality in KwaZulu Natal
  • Applicants living with disabilities are encouraged to apply

*N/B: This programme is not open to candidates who have completed any qualification at NQF level 5 and above

This progragramme is also strictly for applicants from the areas that are within uMngeni-uThukela Water (uMkhanyakude, uMzinto District Municipality)
